British expert gem hunter Guy Clutterbuck has assembled a crack team of miners, from around the globe to source the world’s most precious gems. But Guy wants to do it the right way, his plan is to find small scale artisanal mines that have minimal impact on the environment and treat their workers fairly. Then he will send his team to help the local mine source and produce gems in a more efficient manner, and most importantly forge a lasting relationship with clients that will make them preferred suppliers in the future. It’s a risky business plan, but Guy hopes his 30 years’ experience will give him the business edge to make it a success! In this brand new series Guy travels to the mountain top emerald mines of the Chivor district in Colombia in search of a rare crystal clear Chivor emerald, to Madagascar in search of seven sapphires each a different colour, and to the emerald mines of Zambia. It’s a lucrative business, but Guy has a tough job on his hands to make a profit whilst educating locals on sustainable gem hunting to make the most of their resources.
